ZAMRA Mandates Immediate Registration for Imported Cosmetics

Mary

The Zambia Medicines Regulatory Authority (ZAMRA) has issued a directive requiring all cosmetic products imported into the country to be registered with the authority, effective immediately.

Ludovic Mwape, Senior Public Relations Officer at ZAMRA, confirmed that the regulatory body has already initiated a phased registration process for local cosmetics manufacturers.

In an interview with ZNBC News, Mwape explained that manufacturers have been granted a two-year grace period to complete their registration with ZAMRA, a process that began in September of the previous year.

However, he stressed that this grace period does not apply to imported cosmetics, which will undergo immediate scrutiny.
