A recent report by the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has revealed the presence of hazardous and banned chemicals in numerous cosmetic products available for sale in Denmark. These findings emerged from a series of inspections conducted between November 2023 and April 2024.

ECHA’s investigation highlighted that these unsafe substances were detected in products “from various sellers and at all price ranges.” The inspections relied on an analysis of ingredient lists, a method that ECHA pointed out “can be easily used also by consumers” for safety verification.

Among the non-compliant products were lip-liners, hair conditioners, hair masks, and eyeliners. ECHA confirmed that enforcement authorities have taken action to remove these products from the market to safeguard public health.
